About the Event

Join us for a lovely morning of backyard birding, bird song, and breakfast! We'll walk around Dharma's Garden and the neighborhood, learning to identify birds by sight and song. Participants must be comfortable walking on uneven ground. Since we're up early together, we'll make sure you get a nice breakfast of coffee/tea, fruit, and baked goods—gluten free options too!

Children ages 10 and up are welcome to attend along with their parent/guardian and must be supervised by their adult for the entire workshop. A separate ticket must be purchased for each individual attending, including each child.

Scott Rashid is a bird rehabilitator, researcher, author, artist and director/founder of the Colorado Avian Research and Rehabilitation Institute—CARRI, in Estes Park. Members of the nonprofit rehabilitate injured birds found in and around Estes Park and research birds in and around RMNP, Estes Park, and the front range of Colorado. Scott has written and published several books on owls and other birds, and he has been painting, illustrating and writing about birds for over 30 years. He is one of a small handful of individuals in Colorado licensed to trap and band hummingbirds. Scott has banded thousands of hummingbirds throughout his career. Scott's work with great horned owls began in the early 1980's after he saw his first great horned owl in the wild. He has located numerous great horned owl nests both in Wisconsin and Colorado, and has banded both juvenile and adult birds and rehabilitated injured ones.
