From BBB:
True to its name, Hearts of Gold Cantaloupe offers golden-colored flesh that is sweet and juicy. The melons are large and round, with a thin rind. These fragrant fruits need heat and a longer growing season.Growing cantaloupes requires moisture, sunlight and heat. In areas with shorter growing seasons and cooler temperatures can help by placing black ground cover under the vines to warm the soil and floating row covers to trap the warm air. They are heavy feeders, so plant into well-amended soil, fertilize at planting and several times during the growing season. Provide consistent moisture and avoid overhead watering or splashing water on leaves from the ground. The vines bear male and female flowers. Male flowers open first, joined by female blossoms about a week later. Female flowers have a small swelling at the base of the flower. When vines start to bear male and female flowers, remove row covers so bees can visit the flowers. In colder regions, remove any blossoms that start to develop within 50 days of your area’s first average frost date to ensure that the remaining, larger fruits will ripen before frost.Cantaloupe grows well with corn, pumpkins, radish and squash. Marigolds, nasturtiums and oregano will act as bug repellent if you plant them with your melons.Germ: 10-20Maturity: 90-100Net Wt. per Packet: 2 gramsApproximate Seed Count: 90 Seeds/Packet
